2. Terms of Use
Purpose
Nobody Asked listens to conversations using your device's microphone, transcribes speech using on-device speech recognition, and generates humorous one-liner responses using an on-device AI language model.
All AI processing — including speech recognition, language detection, text generation, and text-to-speech - runs entirely on your device. Results depend on your device's hardware capabilities, the selected AI model, ambient noise conditions, and the language spoken.
Disclaimer of Warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or merchantability. AI-generated responses are intended for entertainment only and should not be taken as factual, advisory, or representative of the views of the developer.
User Responsibility
You are responsible for informing those around you that the app is listening and may interject. You agree to use the app in compliance with local laws regarding audio recording and monitoring. The app is intended for entertainment among consenting participants.
In-App Purchase
Nobody Asked offers a free tier with a limited number of AI responses per session. Unlimited listening is available as a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.
We do not handle payment information directly.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or business damages (including loss of revenue or data), nor for any offense, embarrassment, or social consequences caused by the app's AI-generated responses. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of the Netherlands.
3. Privacy Policy
Data Collection
We take your privacy seriously. "Nobody Asked" does not collect, store, or transfer any personal data to us or any third parties. All audio, transcriptions, and AI-generated text remain on your device and are processed in real-time. No conversation data is recorded, saved, or transmitted.
On-Device Processing
All core functionality runs locally on your device:
- Speech recognition is performed using Apple's on-device Speech framework.
- AI text generation uses a language model downloaded to and executed on your device.
- Text-to-speech uses either Apple's built-in voices or a neural TTS model running locally.
No audio, transcripts, or AI outputs are sent to any server.
Model Downloads
The app downloads AI model files from third-party hosting services (such as Hugging Face) to your device. These downloads require an internet connection. No personal data is sent during these downloads. Once downloaded, models run entirely offline.
User Preferences
Settings such as language selection, voice preferences, and character choice are stored locally on your device using standard system storage (UserDefaults). This data is not transmitted to us or any third party.
Usage Data
The app may automatically collect limited, non-personal usage data, such as crash logs, device model, operating system version, and anonymized application behavior. This data does not personally identify you and is used only to improve the app's performance and reliability. Collection and storage of this data is handled by Apple's systems under their own privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
The app does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
Microphone & Speech Recognition
The app requires access to your device's microphone and speech recognition capabilities. These permissions are requested at launch and can be revoked at any time in your device's Settings.
Audio is processed in real-time and is never stored or transmitted.
App Store
Apple may collect basic usage and purchase data under their own Privacy Policy.
